Alan,
You were my brother and I loved you. Unfortunately, we did not see very much of each other during the latter part of your life, and for that I am very sorry.
You looked out for me when we were growing up, and I always remember how you put out the fire when the box of matches went up in my face and bathed the burns, being a foretaste of the profession you chose later as a state registered nurse for mental health and at a later time becoming officer in charge at the home in Walney Island.
As you were four years older than me, I always looked up to you and wanted to follow in your footsteps, even to the point of deciding I hated school because you said you had.
I was always very proud of you, even though I was sometimes exasperated by you, but probably not as much as you were by your copy-cat little sister.
Miss you lots.
Love from Joyce
A life well-lived doesn't end any more than the music ends, it echoes through time with whispers of beauty and grace. If you listen, you can hear the encore with your hearts, for the song plays on, just as love lives on. Just remember that grief cannot take away the happiness you shared, that sorrow will fade in time, but love remains forever.
